Objective

Altitude appointed Catch to re-design and build their website in order to position Altitude as more than just an events company. The brief requested a 'blog' style making it easy for the user to see what the company offers and show that they practise what they preach. Through social media integration the user should be able to easily connect with Altitude and show Altitude's take on technology providing consumer engagement for brands.

Approach

Altitude's brief for a blog style site lead to the design of a "one pager" website, which shows all the main content on one page and dynamically loads in any extra content it needs. This approach runs in line with Altitude's approach to using technology to provide brand engagement. It was important to the client to complete control over the content of the website. The content management system is based on Wordpress with a lot of extra functionality which isn't available off the shelf.

The "one pager" style of the site called for some intuitive navigation which will not only scroll you too the correct section but within a section like 'News' scroll in dynamically loaded content. Developing with JQuery it was esstential to provide the user with a clear idea of where they are and enable them to link directly to a section of the website.

Each section has its own unique url string similar to the structure traditional website and the user can still use the browsers 'back' and 'forward' buttons to navigate between sections. Furthermore to supplement the websites SEO each of the sections does appear to search engines as a seperate page which are also a fallback for non-script users. To achieve the desired aesthics Cufon font-replacement was used to present the headers and other parts of website in a non-websafe font.
