Objective

International English Distillers released the world's first 80 proof sparkling vodka, entitled Vodka O2. It took 18 months to develop the process that puts oxygen bubbles into the smooth tasting vodka to leave a lightly effervescent texture that gently tingles on the tongue. As a new brand, the company needed an effective online marketing campaign to increase brand awareness, drive sales and launch their exciting new product.

The Approach

A full-screen Flash experience was created in order to show off the uniqueness of this product. The makers created a range of over 20 original vodka-based cocktails they call Tapastini, inspired by Spanish tapas, these were showcased on the site. The classic vodka Martini is served with tasters of complimentary foods either presented on a cocktail stick or placed in the vodka, for example a Caviartini or Sushitini and for the sweeter tooth Jellybinis and Truffletini.

We devised a competition microsite, "Face of Vodka O2". Where girls were encouraged to register and upload photos of themselves in the hope of winning a 1 year contract to become the promotional "Face of Vodka o2".

Result

The drink became an immediate hit in the UK, with International English Distillers securing a deal with Sainsbury's for the product to be stocked nationwide. The website drew an incredible 105,000 unique visits in the first 7 months of launch and over 340 girls entered the "Face of Vodka 02" competition. The brand continues to grow from strength to strength, and with an American launch on the cards it is exciting times for this fledging brand.
